Johann Kurtz has an interesting piece in which he looks at the tfr of Gulf State _citizens_ and finds that they're similar to Israel - it's just that many immigrants people these places and don't have kids

At ~27 minutes. Uh-huh... Yes, confirmation that Malcolm's hourglass can be adjusted for different durations (angled for rates of flow) and has a pause function (by settling it towards it side).

I appreciate how we continue to capture, preserve, and improve older solutions that still have applications in today's works, especially when they can be so simple and reliable while also freeing our minds, even if just momentarily from dependence on all of our modern interfaces.

For instance, most of the year, the width of your hand at arms length is how far the sun travels in an hour. Each finger is ~15 minutes. By using this occasionally, e.g. while running errands, not only can I avoid having to pull out my phone or look at a watch, but I'm training my mind to have better awareness of time, including being able to recognize when certain memories likely occurred at, at first only outfits, then also indoors, and during twilight.
