Watch now | In this episode, the hosts engage in a controversial discussion that questions why Christianity fails to increase fertility rates among Asian populations.
I'm from a born-atheist family originally from East China and the highest TFR in my family was my dad's parents, who had 11 kids. The reason they had that many kids was because birth control was banned in the 1950s, and they felt they had to "repopulate" after WWII. My grandparents on my dads side were hardliner atheist and communist.
The Christians in my family are Jehovah's Witness and Pentecostal and they come from backgrounds like corporate real estate, investment banking, etc, they're like my age - mid 40s - and no kids.
One of my guy cousins on my mom's side has a kid, he's a bike messenger married to a retail worker and they're atheist. Nobody else will survive from the family after my youngest cousin dies. So that's about 25, 30 adults descending into one kid who will probably not reproduce
The Buddhists/Taoists/folk religionists in my family convert to that religion after the age of 50. They usually evolve from an atheist like pikachu evolves into raichu. That's because these religions focus on death and the afterlife, and the main goal of the Buddhism/taoism they like to avoid going to hell and go to a heaven type realm, and the same is true of Taoism. Nirvana / Deification is rare and kind of like being a saint in Christianity.
