@simonehcollins I applaud and strongly agree with your math and innovative thinking here, but feel this needs refinement. Specifically, the path you are describing seems to much more resemble what pushed the decline of the Muslim Golden Age more than Europe's recovery after the black plague that lead to the Renaissance, some side effects of which may have lead/contributed to our current problems.
Given the alternative, these may be good problems to have. After centuries of lore and studies on these issues, there are abundant considered expert solutions, innovative experiments, and AI training to thrown at charting away from bad outcomes, allowing the new plurality of cultural approaches you both espouse to flourish.
I'm not saying we can't repeat the past, but that should be a baseline we all strive to exceed in light of what is now available to work with. I think the real sticking point may be that there will be no guaranteed winners, which seems to cause self-defeating, crab like behavior from some, and therefore just another challenge!
