Malcolm and Simone Collins go deep into the newly released Epstein files and discover something uncomfortable: Epstein was obsessed with many of the same ideas they are — gene editing, artificial wombs, human genetic enhancement, AI, fertility maximization, alternate governance, and “playing to win” civilizationally.
Am I correct in thinking that a free-market republic is not an essential element in either of the two elitist factions you're describing?
Some of the open gate elitists you mentioned refer to themselves as libertarian, yet their businesses use government mechanisms to limit competition in ways more akin to crony capitalism. If the democratic-republic values of rule of law and equality before the law are not essential values for the open-gate elitist, it may be that they view the free market as a temporary or optional state to use to one's own benefit rather than to treat it as a sacrosanct value necessary for society.
Some of the “libertarian” elite have argued that monopolies built on proprietary advantages (like information asymmetries) cannot endure long-term in an open market. But at the same time, their business strategies exemplify clientelism or patronage systems when they leverage their relationships and campaign contributions to get favorable government contracts and sweetheart deals.
We'd argue that a free-market environment in general, though not necessarily a republic, is essential for our faction.
If we were to try to model the people you mention who appear to do anti-competitive stuff, we would imagine they see themselves as cheating in a system in which you're forced to cheat to survive.

I’m curious to hear what you think about that.
